Rand Paul – Obamacare will lead to Rationing…
Nice article on newsmax.com that openly represents Dr. Rand Paul’s views on the Obamacare disaster that could soon be passed in the Senate. It is obvious to anyone who understands the effects of government health care that our health care system will digress and most certainly health procedures will be rationed if this bill is passed.
Of course this health care bill is not about helping those without health insurance…. (You don’t need a 2,000 page bill to provide health insurance to 15 million people)… It is about advancing socialism and increasing the size and scope of the federal government. Unfortunately, the end result of socialism is not equality – but the decimation of the middle & upper class with the people left poor and dependent on the political elite in government.
A lot of common sense in Dr. Paul’s responses. If only we had more of this common sense from our politicians…

Rand Paul, son of Texas Congressman Ron Paul and a Republican candidate for Senate in Kentucky, says Democratic healthcare reform will lead to the rationing of care.
Paul, an ophthalmologist, cited the example of Canada, which has government-run healthcare.
“There are 1 million people waiting for any kind of elective surgery in Canada at any one time,” he told Newsmax.TV’s Ashley Martella.
“Canada is so bad that they have a lottery. … You can sometimes wait one and a half years to see a doctor.”
Americans are quickly seeing the flaws in healthcare reform, says Paul, who is running for the Senate seat of retiring Republican Jim Bunning.

“Republican and Democratic patients, as they come in I sense they’re worried that Medicare may not be there for them, because we’re going to overburden it with 46 million new people they (Democrats) want to put on government assistance,” he said.“It’s intellectually dishonest for Democrats to say it’s going to cost $874 billion, but it’s really not going to add anything to the deficit. I don’t think the American public believes that.”
Paul doesn’t like the Democrats’ reliance on government intervention in their healthcare plans.
“We do have some problems, but I think the problems are because we don’t have enough competition and enough capitalism,” Paul says.
“We need to figure out how to introduce capitalism into healthcare. That would help the consumer and the patient.”
Paul thinks healthcare issues will help Republicans in the 2010 midterm elections. “I think it’s going to be the year of the outsider,” he said. “This (anti-tax and tea-party) movement is big, and I think we’re going to ride this wave to victory.”
Paul reiterated his opposition to the Patriot Act, because he thinks it violates the Fourth
Amendment’s prohibition against unreasonable search and seizure.“It was very important to our founding fathers that you get a judge’s warrant before you go into someone’s house,” Paul said.
“The Patriot Act allows soldiers or government officials to come into your house without a judge’s warrant.”
Paul says the Patriot Act didn’t keep us any safer after 9/11. “Ben Franklin said those who give up their liberty for security will have neither,” Paul pointed out.
“We need to be very careful and be vigilant about our enemies. … But we need to be careful not to give up our own freedoms in the process.”
Paul stresses the need for lower taxes and lower spending.
“I support any change in the tax system that makes the rules less onerous and makes the amount of taxes less.”
That includes a flat income tax rate or a sales tax in place of an income tax, Paul said. “I’d love never to have to deal w/the IRS again. I think millions of Americans would agree.”
But he said Republicans have been better at cutting taxes than cutting spending. “If you only cut taxes, the deficit will become more monstrous, and it will bankrupt us, or we’ll destroy our currency paying for the debt,” he explains.
“First off the bat, we have to start cutting federal spending.”
