In President Obama’s speech last night, he plainly said that Abortions would not be covered with taxpayer funds, yet in 2007 he told Planned Parenthood that government-run health care should cover ‘reproductive health care’. Since he was talking to Planned Parenthood, one has to believe he was specifically including ‘Abortion’ when he discussed reproductive care. So either Obama is lying now, or he was lying to Planned Parenthood. Heritage explains, You decide.
Just so there is no confusion, Planned Parenthood’s Protecting Abortion Access page explains: “Planned Parenthood believes every woman should have access to the full range of reproductive health care.” There is no doubt, when you say “reproductive care” to a Planned Parenthood crowd, that includes abortion.

Update: Fact Check on HR3200 covering Abortions

THE FACTS: In all four mark-ups of health care legislation (three in the House and one in the Senate), Conservatives have offered amendments that would have specifically prohibited federal funds from being used to cover abortion. None of them passed. Instead, the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed an amendment by Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) that actually requires at least one insurance plan to cover abortion in every geographical region and requires the newly-created public plan to cover all abortion services. Furthermore, President Obama told Planned Parenthood on July17, 2007: “We’re going to set up a public plan that all persons and all women can access if they don’t have health insurance. It will be a plan that will provide all essential services, including reproductive services.” Candidate Obama either was not telling the truth to Planned Parenthood then or President Obama is not telling the truth to the American people now.
It is clear that HR3200 will cover Abortions. If the Democrats wished for abortions to not be covered, than they would have passed these amendments outlawing taxpayer funds for infant murder. (Even my 1 year old could figure this one out...)
Conclusion: Lets be honest. Rep. Joe Wilson was right – Obama is the liar.

Do u remember when Bill Clinton parsed words such as “I did not have sex with that woman”. (translation – “I did not have intercourse with Monica Lewinsky so I did not have sex with her”. Apply the same to Obama’s speech where he complained about 3 lies that his detractors were spreading:
1.”Death Panels are a lie”. Really, then what were the goals of those counselling meetings set up to occur at least every 5 years for seniors?
2. “Illegal immigrants will get health insurance is a lie.” Really, then why did the Democrats kill attempts to put wording in the plan to explicitly state that. And, why did Obama continue to speak about 50 million uninsured Americans who deserve health care when the 50 million included 10 million illegals.
3. “Abortion will be in the plan is a lie.” Really? Jason, u have clearly dealth with this.
What would anyone trust Obama on any of these issues? He is an abortionist extrordinaire, fully committed to NARAL and Emily’s List and Planned Parenthood. He even supported infanticide for babies who survive botched abortions. When in the Illinois legislature and as a US Senator he supported attempts to give illegal immigrants taxpayer paid health care.
