Obama School Speech – Should Parents be Concerned?

obama thumb 300x225 Obama School Speech Should Parents be Concerned? There’s been a lot of outrage over President Obama’s speech to America’s children tomorrow… Many on the right are screaming that this is indoctrination and brain-washing, and that Obama should not be giving a speech at all to our nation’s school children. The left wing of course, say conservatives are all ‘nuts’ and are just using scare tactics because they hate Obama and want to see him ‘crash and burn’…

Now that the speech has been released, it seems that most of the content is harmless and contains nothing that would outrage conservatives. So much of the outrage cannot be explained by the many points in President Obama’s speech. If one wants to understand the outrage, he or she must examine the original curriculum contained with the announcement of the speech, and the history of Obama that makes any contact with our nations schools questionable to parents. I will explain the two below…

Original Curriculum

When President Obama’s speech was originally published to the news outlets, the Department of Education requested that students think about these ‘help Obama questions‘ when listening to the President’s speech. A few of the questions are highlighted below…

  • What is the President trying to tell me?
  • What is the President asking me to do?
  • Does the Speech make you want to do anything?

Once the outrage started in the conservative blog world (not the MSM), these questions were quickly removed. The questions themselves of course are touchy, and make any parent step back and wonder; what’s the agenda? If there was no agenda, and the President’s intent was to only inspire students to learn and work hard in school, no one would be concerned.

So why then are conservatives so concerned? One must look at the background of President Obama to show why conservative parents are questioning this administration…

Hint: It reveals an agenda that many don’t want to swallow.

Obama’s Radical Ties

Obama’s radical ties can be traced straight back to Bill Ayers and the radical educational group ‘CAC’. This is the education group Ayer’s founded and worked on together with President Obama to shape education policy in Chicago. As you may have guessed, the organization that pumped over 100 million dollars into community organizations such as ACORN, were not interested in the students math and science scores, but in shaping a far-left radical agenda within public schools. The WSJ reports below

CAC translated Mr. Ayers’s radicalism into practice. Instead of funding schools directly, it required schools to affiliate with “external partners,” which actually got the money. Proposals from groups focused on math/science achievement were turned down. Instead CAC disbursed money through various far-left community organizers, such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (or Acorn).

Mr. Obama once conducted “leadership training” seminars with Acorn, and Acorn members also served as volunteers in Mr. Obama’s early campaigns. External partners like the South Shore African Village Collaborative and the Dual Language Exchange focused more on political consciousness, Afrocentricity and bilingualism than traditional education. CAC’s in-house evaluators comprehensively studied the effects of its grants on the test scores of Chicago public-school students. They found no evidence of educational improvement.

CAC also funded programs designed to promote “leadership” among parents. Ostensibly this was to enable parents to advocate on behalf of their children’s education. In practice, it meant funding Mr. Obama’s alma mater, the Developing Communities Project, to recruit parents to its overall political agenda. CAC records show that board member Arnold Weber was concerned that parents “organized” by community groups might be viewed by school principals “as a political threat.” Mr. Obama arranged meetings with the Collaborative to smooth out Mr. Weber’s objections.

The Daley documents show that Mr. Ayers sat as an ex-officio member of the board Mr. Obama chaired through CAC’s first year. He also served on the board’s governance committee with Mr. Obama, and worked with him to craft CAC bylaws. Mr. Ayers made presentations to board meetings chaired by Mr. Obama. Mr. Ayers spoke for the Collaborative before the board. Likewise, Mr. Obama periodically spoke for the board at meetings of the Collaborative.

Does it now begin to make sense why parents are concerned with President Obama directly speaking to our school children without their parents present? After all, he could have given this speech at night, so that working parents could sit with their children and watch the Presidents address together…

In the end, this is the reason that many conservatives are outraged. If Obama was not associated with such radicals in education as ‘Bill Ayers’ and the ‘CAC’, etc, many would not be concerned at all that President Obama was speaking to our school children. In fact, they would probably be happy to know that their president was encouraging children to inspire to great things in life and work hard in school. (Yes, it is the agenda – plain and simple.)

So, what exactly is the agenda?

Liberals, sometimes known as Progressives, see the State as the purveyor of all that is right and good. Parents are an impediment to the Progressive’s desire to create a utopia ruled by an oligarchy of intellectuals who know what’s best for the public at large. The state trumps the family. Remember Hillay Clinton’s “It takes a Village.” Obama, moreso than Hillary, is a pure statist, probably a Marxist in his deepest thinking, which should make every parent suspicious of his intentions. It’s been said that every American should love their country but distrust their government. This is true more than ever since Obama took office and it’s especially true when he talks to our children.

Funny, when Bush spoke to children 1991, Congress denounced the speech and then held extensive hearings on the subject… Hmmmm

So for Tom Degan, this is just a routine Presidential speech to children. Nothing to be concerned about, and has no agenda other than to inspire children to work hard in school… Maybe so.

But Obama past relationships, educational organizations, and actions prove that he is a strong left wing member, and subscribes to a Socialist, Marxist, & collectivist agenda with the goal to create a socialist/communist America unlike anything our Founding Fathers believed or wrote about. (not to mention unconstitutional) In the end, Obama’s actions speak louder than his rhetoric.

    NOTE TO THE RIGHT WING:

Just sit back and relax, folks. Barack Obama is only performing a routine presidential duty that has been performed by presidents for generations. There’s nothing to be afraid of. He’s not trying to turn your babies into mini Marxists. This isn’t the Trotsky For Toddlers program. The president of the United States merely wants to have a heart to heart talk with the children of America about the importance of a good education, that’s all. I promise you, we Progressives do not believe in evil, subliminal messages. Chill out!
