America at a Cross Roads – Government or Liberty?
As the August recess comes to a close and the politicians return to Washington to begin creating laws we don’t need or desire, I was thinking this week about what the autumn of 2009 will bring… In just a few short months we have seen massive government expansion at the hands of the liberal Democrats and a ultra-liberal President. It has become very revealing what Obama’s ‘change’ motto means in regards to his presidency and power; that ‘change’ being a massive increase in Government and a transfer of power from the people to a few political elite in Washington.
As Americans we have seen this ‘change’ at alarming speed with the so-called stimulus package, the government takeover of GM, banking bailouts, the ‘Cap & Tax’ legislation, and now the Obamacare bill. Also within this short time, the liberals have quadrupled the deficit with no end in sight and no plan what-so-ever to reduce it… Essentially they have left the burden of this governmental tyranny on the future backs of our children and grandchildren.
The Founding Fathers of this great nation of course were completely against this so-called ‘change’. It was Obama’s ‘change’ that caused them to take up arms and risk life and property to defeat England in the early 1770s – to die for their freedom and the ‘blessings of liberty’ to their children and grandchildren. They believed that the best from of government was individual self-government with a limited federal government, restricted in power by the Constitution with the chief role to keep the citizens free. (If you don’t believe this, you have been brain washed by the left-wing socialists.)

America is now at a cross roads as a nation. They have risen up to resist as much government expansion as possible, but face a bigger fight come the fall. With support for government health care failing, I believe the Democrats will push for a full out ‘public option’ and a takeover of the healthcare industry – even at the risk of the ‘blue dog’ Democrats in the 2010 election. I believe they realize that they will never receive support for the bill from the country as long as a ‘public option’ exists, so they are going to ‘go it alone’ with their majority and risk the seats in 2010.
The choice in front of America is simple, will they succumb to the massive increase in government and sit in apathy at home – essentially willing to submit to their slavery and the slow chaining - one arm and leg at a time. Or, will America resist and insist on liberty. Will they remember the Constitution and demand their leaders to follow it. Will they reject this massive increase in government and seek to ‘keep secure’ the blessings of liberty to themselves and their posterity…
All indications are that they will. The first few months of Obama’s presidency has awaken the sleeping giant. The giant that loves and cherish’s liberty and will stop at nothing to keep it safe. Will this giant be lulled back to sleep? Lets hope not!
