An excellent article in the Wall Street Journal, written by Whole Foods founder and CEO, points out many excellent reform alternatives to ObamaCare. (See the article here)

What do these alternatives have in common? They are all based on Freedom, and not on government control… What a refreshing option for a change.

These eight market friendly reform options were outlined by the Heritage Foundation, an excerpt from the article is below…

  • Remove the legal obstacles that slow the creation of high-deductible health insurance plans and health savings accounts (HSAs).
  • Equalize the tax laws so that employer-provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits.
  • Repeal all state laws which prevent insurance companies from competing across state lines.
  • Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover.
  • Enact tort reform to end the ruinous lawsuits that force doctors to pay insurance costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
  • Make costs transparent so that consumers understand what health-care treatments cost.
  • Enact Medicare reform.
  • Finally, revise tax forms to make it easier for individuals to make a voluntary, tax-deductible donation to help the millions of people who have no insurance and aren’t covered by Medicare, Medicaid or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
  • Read Mackey’s op-ed and read the Patients’ Choice Act and don’t let any Obamacare advocate tell you conservatives are not in favor of health care reform.

These are all great ideas, many of which are incorporated into the Ryan-Coburn Patients Choice Act.

Isn’t it amazing that reform solutions which actually work are always based on more individual freedom?

This brings me to the question of the day, Why are none of these solutions in the Democrat’s reform plan?….. Answer: The Democrat’s plan is NOT about reforming health care; it is about more power and control over the lives of Americans. (Otherwise, wouldn’t some of these be in the 1000 page plan?)

Somehow, I highly doubt our liberal friends would be concerned if our health care goes to pot, as long as the control of the system remains in the power of the ‘political elite’.
