Why America Needs School Choice!
Support for school choice is continuing to grow around the country!
Thankfully, I do believe America is beginning to realize the amazing benefits of school choice in every town, city, and state. (Lets keep the train rolling!) Do you have school choice in your local community?
What is School Choice?
School choice is a simple way to allow for any child, no matter his or her’s income level, to attend any school in the State…as long as they meet the school’s educational requirements.
It works through a voucher program, and allows the parent to send their child to any school, even private schools, with their tax money through a tax voucher.
So, if a child is gifted and the parents live in a low income area with terrible schools, they can use their voucher to send their child to a private school of their choice .Without the option of school choice, these parents and children would never have the opportunity to send their child to a different school and would have to suffer in a subpar educational system, but with a voucher program – powered by school choice – this is very possible.
This would also work for parents who desire their children to go to a catholic, jewish, or independent christian school. Essentially it provides more choices with your tax payer money. (Remember – It’s your money in the first place!) Just think, parents who already pay property taxes, could use that tax money as a voucher to send their child to the local private school of their choice.
Many benefits would come from ‘school choice‘, only a few are listed below…
- Parents have more control of their children’s education
- Parents get to use their tax money to send their children to the school of their choice.
- Increased competition amongst schools – thereby increasing the overall excellence of all schools
- Increased opportunity for low income families
- Increased opportunity for teachers
- Teachers answer to Parents on education- and not the government
- Schools can focus on having the best education possible – and not government mandates
- And most importantly – It’s working!
The amazing thing is that even liberals are waking up to the benefits of taking education out of the government’s hands and into the hand of parents… In this video below, I’ve finally found something I can agree with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on. (there is a first time for everything!)
