White House wants more power over Medicare Rates!
In an AP report today, President Obama is requesting Congress to allow the White House to determine more particulars in US Medicare reform. His goal is to get involved in lowering overall medicare costs, but you won’t believe his proposed solution to Medicare reform… restricting reimbursement rates to Doctors, Hospitals, and Providers!

WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House is asking Congress to give the executive branch more power to limit Medicare’s rising costs.
A White House letter to top lawmakers on Friday said the move would be “a critical step forward” in controlling health care costs and providing better care.
The proposal would allow an independent advisory board to recommend changes in Medicare reimbursement rates for doctors, hospitals and other providers. If the president approved the recommendations, Congress could still vote to reject them altogether. But Congress could not approve some recommendations and reject others.
Currently, Medicare reimbursement rates vary from region to region. Key lawmakers often get involved in setting local rates, a practice the Obama administration plan would end.
President Obama just revealed his hand on how he plans to lower health care costs to over 300 million Americans, if the US health care system gets into government control. He plans to reduce Doctor and Hospital reimbursement rates, and hence lower medical professionals pay!!
Mark my words: This will provide ZERO reform and will do nothing to lower our nations medicare costs. As it is, medicare reimbursement rates are already painfully low. These low rates, cause Doctors and Hospitals to increase their rates to private insurers so that they can stay afloat. It will do nothing to increase competition and reduce medicare costs, but instead will most likely increase health care costs overall.
Its main goal is the same as every goal coming out of the White House under the Obama administration; more government control over our private economy and hence our lives. The Democrats are salivating over the health care industry which makes up 1/6th of the US economy. If they can take control over this industry they can gain more power, more government revenue, and more lobbyist perks to massage their bloated government influence. It is not about helping those in need, it is about power… plain and simple.
