Congressman believes Michigan Unemployment will exceed 20%!

Hill’s Blog reported today that Republican Congressman McCotter (R-MI) believes Michigan’s unemployment rate could reach as high as 20%!  He also believes this is mainly due to Obama’s interference in the economy, and that the unemployment rates in other states will also rise due to Michigan’s drag on the overall country. An excerpt from the article is below…

Michigan’s unemployment rate could hit as high as 20 percent with the Obama administrationto blame, one Michigan congressman warned Friday.

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) said that Michigan’s unemployment — already the highest in the country at 14.1 percent — could go even higher as General Motors and Chrysler continue to shed jobs after their government-financed bankruptcies.

“Sadly, we’ve seen estimates, because of the radical restructuring that the auto task force demanded, that this year, Michigan wind up over 20 percent unemployment,” McCotter said during an appearance on a conservative news radio program.

The Wolverine State hasn’t yet exceeded its previous record for unemployment in modern history, when it reached 16.9 percent in November of 1982.

McCotter warned that the effect of such a high jobless number could spread to other states and cities.

“That cascading effect throughout the entire economy — and throughout other states — that rely in many ways on the manufacturing base is going to have devastating effects not only to state government, it’s going to have devastating effects for local government,” McCotter explained.

It’s sad that so many in Michigan are without jobs, but there is a realistic belief that the voters in Michigan created this disaster by continuing to elect liberal Democrat leaders (not even conservative Democrats) to run their state. Much like California, these Democrat’s ran the state into the ground by continuing to tax and spend, and creating a multitude of individuals in dependence on the nanny government. (Is this not complete lunacy?!?! I remember last year being in Michigan where over a foot of snow fell, and the roads were not plowed. Why? Because there was no money to plow the roads so late in the year. Ha!)

This is what happens when you continue to excessively tax businesses and the wealthy… They take their businesses and leave your state (or your country) and the system falls in on itself when the state income and jobs are gone… What a lack of logical reasoning of those on the left. (or economic sense!)
