What was in the 310 page addition to the Climate Bill at 3 am?
You remember the 1200 page climate bill that all the members of Congress failed to read before Nancy Pelosi slammed it through Congress with a slim majority? Today, reports have come out on the 310 addition to the bill that was added at 3 am in the morning, only a few hours before the vote. An excerpt from the Washington Times article is below…
They finally secured the vote of one Ohioan, veteran Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo, the old-fashioned way. They gave her what she wanted – a new federal power authority, similar to Washington state’s Bonneville Power Administration, stocked with up to $3.5 billion in taxpayer money available for lending to renewable energy and economic development projects in Ohio and other Midwestern states.
House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry A. Waxman, California Democrat, included the Kaptur project in a 310-page amendment to the legislation unveiled at 3 a.m. Friday, just hours before the bill was to be debated on the House floor. The amendment was packed with other vote-getting provisions, both large and small, that had been sought by dozens of wavering Democrats.
Just more government waste with taxpayers fitting the bill… Of course, Democrat Rep. Marcy Kaptur is proud of this accomplish and posted her success on a government website. To add insult to injury, representatives for Kaptur stated that the program would be run similar to the $787 billion stimulus bill the Democrats passed earlier this year. You remember the bill, it has done so well that unemployment is at a dismal 9%, with no end in sight!
I ask… when will our representatives start acting honorably and remember who they work for? When will they make decisions based on the Constitution and rule of law, and not based on more government power? I guess like many conservatives, I’ll have to keep waiting…
