More Government = Less Freedom
“Remember that every government service, every offer of government-financed security, is paid for in the loss of personal freedom. … In the days to come, whenever a voice is raised telling you to let the government do it, analyze very carefully to see whether the suggested service is worth the personal freedom which you must forgo in return for such service.” ~ Ronald Reagan
The sad truth that many on the left refuse to realize, or secretly love, is that every new government program removes an aspect of freedom within our lives. If this is a new concept to you…listen closely… this is why the founders of our nation created the Constitution in the first place; to limit the reaches and powers of the federal government. This is why they believed in the rule of law of the Constitution, as written, and not some hocus-pocus ‘living breathing’ Constitution that many on the left love to embrace. Their intentions were to chain the government to the Constitution, so that the people under the federal government would never find themselves literally in chains.
By embracing the ‘living breathing‘ Constitution, you are not embracing the Constitution of our founding fathers, who desired rule of law with the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. Instead, you are embracing a Constitution that can be interpreted differently by every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Essentially, you are embracing Rule of Men. Under this form of law, there is no concrete principles of liberty and freedom, but only the whim of judges and politicians. Freedom cannot preserve under this thinking, and eventually tyranny will result. Maybe not in one generation, or two, but as assuredly as the sun rises, men will use this weapon of foolishness in order to maintain power and oppress the people under their rule.
It is disturbing to see so many free people within this country worship government as if it is God, and scream for more and more government programs to nanny them. Either we have lost our love for liberty, we are too lazy to take life by the horns, or we have forgotten what true freedom really entails. My personal belief is that it is a little of all three, with the 3rd point being the most prominent. This is why conservatives become so concerned with a government monopoly on education, and specifically by those on the left that desire to remove private or home schooling completely. Their reasons are not entirely to care for the children who are not being taught proper education, (as if this was the majority) but rather they understand that it is powerful tool to indoctrinate our children to love big government and despise personal liberty. Through this endless propaganda, our children’s minds can be chained to slavery, corrupted into believing the lies of the nanny state, with no knowledge of limited government, personal responsibility, and freedom. Instead what is being taught is the glory of social programs, with only the men in government wise enough to regulate and control them. This is indeed a real danger that our founders warned us about…
We who hold true to conservative values, must not only understand the principles of liberty, but also be able to communicate them with others. Essentially, there is no reason to be shy about freedom, because freedom is popular. As we think and pray about the next presidential candidates. Let’s nominate a true conservative, one who not only believes our principles, but can communicate them with precision.
Cheers Thinking Patriots,
Jason
“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.” ~Thomas Jefferson

A “living breathing” Constitution is really the same as a “dead” one because the intent of the Founders is ignored. That is, the original Constition is sort of like a wax nose to the liberal. It can be shaped anyway they want. The words are stripped of their original meanings and deconstructed according to the latest liberal interpretation. The 1787 Constitution is thus interred and a new one reborn whenever needed to enhance the growth and power of government.
There is an analogy between the political liberal and the religious Christian liberal. The Christian liberal treats the Bible like the political liberal treats the US Constitution. Both documents become putty in the hands of those who in the end reject the wisdom of God and the acumen of our Founders.
