Progressives will Lead Us to Slavery
“Many Americans want money they don’t personally own to be used for what they see as good causes such as handouts to farmers, poor people, college students, senior citizens and businesses. If they privately took someone’s earnings to give to a farmer, college student or senior citizen, they would be hunted down as thieves and carted off to jail. However, they get Congress to do the identical thing, through its taxing power, and they are seen as compassionate and caring. In other words, people love government because government, while having neither moral nor constitutional authority, has the legal and physical might to take the property of one American and give it to another. The unanticipated problem with this agenda is that as Congress uses its might to take what belongs to one American to give to another, what President Obama calls ’spreading the wealth around,’ more and more Americans will want to participate in the looting. It will ultimately produce something none of us wants: absolute control over our lives.” ~ George Mason University economist Dr. Walter E. Williams
It seems today, every Democrat and liberal is redefining themselves as progressives. This is probably because the public is really not sure what progressive’s believe, and to be called a progressive sounds somewhat more intellectual than liberal. As thinking conservatives you are probably aware that liberals and progressives are basically the same thing, just different words to describe each other. The problem with progressives, aka liberals, is not that they are bad people, it ’s that their ideas when taken to their logical conclusion lead to the slavery of the citizens to those in government. Yes, that’s correct, the end of the road for all liberal thought is eventually Communism. Now, to be fair, they will never agree with me on this point, but I challenge you to inspect their views and find within their world a solution to man’s problems that doesn’t involve more government. In fact, I have yet to find a progressive (liberal) who doesn’t find a government solution to every ailment in the human society. To them, every problem that exists in this country, is the government’s responsibility to fix, whether it is child raising, education, health care, etc., etc… The list goes on to eternity because they believe every answer begins and ends with government. If you don’t believe me, just ask them for solutions or listen to the nightly commentary for a total of 5 minutes. All you’ll hear is yada, yada, yada, government, government, government. A state that owns everything, runs everything, and is in charge of everything in your life in my mind is Slavery. It is not what our founders designed and it does not promote and preserve liberty. Liberty is the end role of good government, and with this ‘lens of liberty’ we should examine every action of our leaders.
The quote above from Dr. Williams is scary. It’s scary because it’s true. If you follow his logic, and you follow the news today, you will find that his predictions are not far off… The government having absolute control over our lives.

… “There is a story about a beautiful bird that was known for it’s great singing. It would sit at the top of a tree and make lovely melodies. One day a man walking through the woods passed by the tree and heard the beautiful bird singing. The bird saw the man and that he was holding a box
“what do you have in the box?” the bird asked the man.
The man repliedd that he had large juicy earthworms in the box. “I will sell you a worm for one of your beautiful feathers,” he offered.
The bird pulledd out a feather and exchanged it for a worm. He reflected to himself, Why should I work hard to get worms when it is so easy to get them this way?
The bird and the man repeated this process over the course of many days, and soon the bird no longer had any more beautiful feathers with which to pay for worms. Furthermore, he could no longer fly, nor was he still pretty. He did not feel like singing beautiful songs, and he was very unhappy.
Think about it…
