The Charlatan of Fiscal Responsibility

money1 300x225 The Charlatan of Fiscal ResponsibilityJust a few weeks ago, President Obama quadrupled the federal deficit with his new budget, so-called stimulus bill (aka liberal pork bill), and additional tarp spending program. He has unleashed spending like no other president before him, and our nation is now roughly 11 trillion dollars in debt. Yes, you read that correct, 11 trillion with a T. When I first heard this statistic, I was thinking… ‘Well thank you very much, now not only will my children be buried in government debt, now my grandchildren will too.’ I guess we’ll just rev up the printing press and print more money!!!  But today really blew my socks off… When I was reading this article from Reuters, I just about fell off my chair in disbelief. President Obama actually made this statement, as if he has nothing to do with our current fiscal deficit…

“The reckless fiscal policies of the past have left us in a very deep hole,”… “Digging our way out will take time and patience and tough choices.” ~ President Barack Obama.

Is it just me, or are you in bewilderment too? Does he think we have no short term memory? And what tough choices is he talking about?? The sad thing is you can bet the media will give him a pass on this, like they have from the beginning. This is the same president who is now calling for a massive government health care program, and he is lecturing us on reckless fiscal policies?? Give me a break from the rhetoric already… I have a simple recommendation to President Obama if he is serious about fiscal discipline: CUT SPENDING! and reduce the size of government, but this option is almost never talked about, or even thought of by our leaders. If our leaders cared about the people they would do just that, but it is clear their devotion is to special interests and power. Why else would they continue to rack up outrageous debt to pay for programs unauthorized by the Constitution and of little benefit to the people. They are like spoiled children who have Daddy’s credit card and are spending without conscience.  Want to fix this fiscal nightmare? My personal recommendation looks like this: End the stimulus & bailout disaster, 35% across the board cut on all programs, immediately balance the budget, start paying off federal debt, cut taxes for all, fire your economic team, hire a team of Austrian Economists, and let them fix the economy. Problem Solved.

I leave you with a quote from Thomas Jefferson. If only we had leaders of this caliber in our day and age… well, one can hope.

Cheers Thinking Patriots,
Jason

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. ”
~ Thomas Jefferson
