Socialism is the Gangrene of Prosperity

For my first post ever on the Patriot’s Mind, I want to explore the prosperity eating virus called Socialism. I can think of no other system of government other than Communism more destructive to liberty, prosperity, and a strong nation than socialism. The very concept is built on the foundation of robbery and stealing of the people’s private property, yet it masquerades in left wing circle as wonderful system of government due to the redefinition of the word ‘fair’. When the system takes affect and you remove the mask of ‘fairness’, it reveals its destructive power all too late for the people to escape.
The foundational linchpin of prosperity is the entrepreneurial spirit, desire for achievement, and the opportunity to achieve. With these tools, one is able to better oneself and one’s family for a more prosperous future. When this linchpin is removed the inevitable result is long term disaster. As we know, the foundation of socialism is to take by force the private property of the prosperous and redistribute it to the less prosperous, with the desired result of equal prosperity for all people. The great flaw in this concept is the blindness to the entrepreneurial spirit, and the motivating desire in every human heart. By redistributing the productive’s wealth, you essentially remove the motivation for the individual to achieve. In the end the businesses, entrepreneurs, and job creators stop producing or leave to find a more business friendly atmosphere. (This is not rocket science, but just the logical conclusion to the end result of socialism.) When the tax payers are gone, the system collapses on itself and the result is nothing more than misery of the people.
But the nail in the coffin for me, is that socialism is inherently immoral. It is based on confiscating property of another individual, and giving to a 3rd individual who did not earn it. This is not volunteer giving, but is confiscation by force where the result of not paying is imprisonment. There is not much out there that can be more evil than stealing. It is found in almost every culture around the world as morally wrong, and detestable to anyone who has been on the side of the property holder. Both socialists and conservatives would agree that we have a moral obligation to care for the poor and help our neighbors in need. Although through liberty, history has shown us that opportunity is created as taxes are low causing businesses to flourish with endless jobs being produced. Thus individuals have more financial means to give to the poor voluntarily, and to the organizations they see as most beneficial to their neighbor’s needs. In addition, through liberty those in need have more opportunity to find a job and change or alter their situation if they choose to work hard and prosper. In turn, the only end result of socialism is dependence on the State. I believe that statistics would show that liberty is the most beneficial and effective to helping our poor in need than any socialist program. Through opportunity, voluntary giving, free markets, trade, and the right to private property a prosperous and happy nation is established. American history has already proven this fact, why would we leave such a form of government?
