Liberty is a God given Right!

statue of liberty1 213x300 Liberty is a God given Right! Many on the left may ask, “Why do conservatives get all crazy about big government.  Big government helps people in need. Don’t they believe in helping people?”. Well, I’m going  to tell you why, hopefully in a simple post. Conservatives get worked up about big  government, because they still believe in the spirit and laws declared by Jefferson’s hand in  the Declaration. The spirit that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain  unalienable Rights. Rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. To be frank,  these rights are incompatible with Big Government. Everything involved in big government  infringes on these rights and in extreme cases removes them all together. Why you ask?  Because big government by its nature gets big by taking what doesn’t belong to it,  regulating free institutions and people, and increasing tyranny on free people in order to  gain more control and power over them. This is why we get excited and upset about big  government programs and initiatives. It is because big government infringes on the rights  bestowed by God, moral inalienable rights for everyone across the world. The right to Life,  Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!

And yes, conservatives do care about people in need. Statistically you will find that  conservatives give more to charities than any other political group.  This tells me that conservatives care for the poor more than many even realize. The difference is conservatives believe giving to the poor was commanded to the individual and is the responsibility of the individual, not solely government. In addition, conservatives believe giving to  private charities is a more efficient and effective way of taking care of the poor (example: Salvation Army, United Way, & Others), while government usually will invent ways to waste the taxpayer’s money (as if there is not enough ways already) and create a status of dependence for the poor instead of helping them rise up out of their poverty.
